Grace, hope, thanks, Colossians

This winter and spring we’ll be studying Colossians together, adding a segment of thanksgiving to our meetings, and watching for the true hope of God’s grace. We’ll also be planning a rhythm of praying together. Looking forward to it!

Fall calendar

As you can see, our fall calendar is set now — with a nine-week study series in Genesis. Note that, as is our usual practice, the leader will likely focus our attention on some particular section within the longer block of chapters identified.

We hope we’ll find word through this series of God’s provision, hope, and encouragement for the good works we’re engaged in.

Genesis manuscript for our Fall 2007 studies

Because of the length of Genesis (and the resulting size of a complete print-out), we’re going to suggest that leaders bring copies of just the passage we’ll study in depth for us each week. But you may want to read the whole section, so we’re making available the complete manuscript for you to print out or read online.

Here’s how it works:

Because we don’t have the rights to give away the NRSV manuscript to any and all — but we do have rights to use it for MicroChurch — you need to enter a password to get at the file. Go to Genesis manuscript for download and enter the name of Ann & Jon’s daughter (informal form, all lowercase), and you’ll be in. (Email me if you don’t know her name.)

Fall schedule set

In a fit of efficiency, on Thursday evening we were able to lay out the schedule of MicroChurch meetings for the fall. They appear here at MicroChurch.org. We also reached easy consensus about studying the book of Luke.

In particular, please use the commenting powers of this site to sign up for the various necessities like snacks & drinks, communion, and musical-worship leading.

Summer reading

At our planning potluck on May 24, we confirmed our earlier, tentative decision to spend the summer in monthly backyard barbecues and discussion of special readings. Lucky for us, Linda had given the readings some thought, so it was quite easy to ratify the direction she proposed.

See the upcoming events for details of location, bibliography, and logistics. The Boyds will be putting a copy of David Benner’s slim volume The Gift of Being Yourself into your hands quickly so you can have it read by June 15.

MicroChurch gets a new website

As you’ve surely noticed, we’ve got a totally overhauled site for MicroChurch.org. I hope you like it. It’s pretty simple (at least, it supposed to look that way):

At the top of the homepage appears a chronological listing of upcoming MicroChurch meetings. Just click on any date to see full “responsibility details” for that night. One of the nice things about the new site is that you can leave comments about any night, in case you want to ask questions or provide some information.

Then further down on the homepage appear newsy items with updates, facts, or other oddities. This should be fun!
